From winning the Excellent Award to the successful conclusion of the first review for the Excellent Continuous Award, it is another major breakthrough since the company launched TPM, a new milestone in the company's TPM implementation, and also marks that the company has taken another step towards a world-class manufacturing factory!
The TPM Excellent Award is an award established by the Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance (JIPM) in 1964, aiming to promote the modernization of equipment management, develop equipment management technology, and improve the overall operational efficiency and industrial contribution of enterprises. Initially, this award mainly recognized American-style PM enterprises that had achieved remarkable results in equipment management. However, as time went by, the review criteria gradually shifted to emphasizing TPM activities with full participation, that is, all departments, including production, development, sales, and management, jointly carry out equipment maintenance and improvement work.
With the global expansion of TPM activities, enterprises in about 50 countries have begun to implement relevant plans. Since 2003, the number of overseas enterprises receiving TPM awards has significantly exceeded that in Japan, and reached its peak in 2005. This reflects the global recognition and effectiveness of TPM. In order to better promote global TPM activities, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Japan and JIPM proposed the "Overseas Independent Review" strategy, selecting reputable international institutions to conduct the review work for TPM awards.
